If you’ve followed the blog for a while, you probably remember the one about a beautiful maternity session shot behind a lifeguard stand! She walked with such grace and was glowing from within during that sesh and I was obsessed! Seeing her transition from her pregnancy to motherhood is such an amazing experience and I am so honored to be able to capture her family’s new edition! Like seriously, where did the time go?! I’ve captured this mama through all three of her babes– can you imagine all the feels during this session?
I’m sure you can tell by the end of this newborn gallery that family connection is always at the top of my list to capture. When I first started photography, I was really drawn to the posed and solo stuff– my focus was on the new bundle of joy, and nothing else. I always wanted to capture that perfect “solo” newborn shot, and especially when offering newborn sessions, I always wanted to pivot the session towards the baby being front and center.
But of course, my priority shifted. And for such a good reason! I don’t mind newborn flaky skin, a breastfeeding mama, a sleeping baby, etc. Honestly, I embrace it! I love seeing those raw, authentic moments between a family and a newborn that most people don’t get to usually see. When a baby is born, it’s a beautiful process of loving on this newest member of the family for a chunk of time before you bring visitors into the mixxx!
I hope this newborn family session makes you feel like a fly on the wall to those quiet moments, full of love. To be able to see the bonds being made between parent and child, and sisters and brothers that not many people get to take a peek at!
I always try my best to accommodate a new mama and her family with everything she would need to feel comfortable during the shoot! That includes taking time to breastfeed, bottle feed, or adjust and re-adjust the babe! I always want the session to be an enjoyable experience. If everyone is at ease and relaxed, the session always flows wayyy smoother!
Bringing a child into the world really shows how badass women are. And being a mom myself, I know raising kids also takes a village! Family is always of the utmost importance and I hope that you can feel the connection at the core of my work with every session<3
